Reporting to the AVP Procurement, the Director Contracting is responsible for managing 10-15 medium to highly complex contracts for The Hartford at any time. He/she will have frequent stakeholder interaction, including with Senior Operations, Technology and Data Leadership.
Responsible for highly complex strategic contracting engagements for The Hartford’s Operations, Technology and Data organization. This will include consulting on opportunities, developing business cases to support proposals, leading and managing RFX and supplier selection processes, negotiating contracts with suppliers and overseeing supplier management activities.
Optimize the business performance by properly aligning business operations with supplier products and services and insuring cost benefit is supported in contract.
May, at times, manage a team of direct or indirect reports, depending on the scope and size of the initiatives they are driving.
Leads contract execution in alignment with category strategies. Proactive partnership with Category Management and internal business customer to optimize contract value and minimize risk and cost.
Leverage Procurement technology to manage the contracting process and facilitate the contract and financial approval process.
Manage Vendor risk by partnering with The Hartford’s Risk Governors (THIP, BRO, Compliance, Legal) to assess data security, compliance, legal and business resiliency risks.
Prefer candidates with 5-8 years of procurement experience or 10 years of Information Technology experience working with vendor contracts.
Highly collaborative and strong communications skills; written, verbal, and presentation.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Ariba skills a plus.
Experience negotiating master agreements, articulating technical and business requirements in the form of statements of work. Assist with development of service level requirements.
Bachelor’s degree required Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or Computer Science preferred. MBA, CPM, CPA is helpful.
