Title: Director, Business Information ArchitectLocation: United States-Connecticut-HartfordJob Number: 1801664The Data Strategy & Architecture (DSA) Practice within the Chief Data Office is seeking a Director, Business Information Architect to report into the AVP, Data Engineering on the Business Information Architecture team. The Director, Business Information Architect serves as a primary point of contact for the Commercial Lines business community and will work closely with stakeholders and technology colleagues within the larger Chief Data Office to shape and drive the line of business strategy from a data perspective. The role will require frequent communication with both business and technology colleagues throughout the firm. The role requires the ability to listen to and acknowledge concerns and feedback, win over skeptics, and effectively tailor communications for audiences of all levels. The end goal is to develop a level of credibility and influence through strong partnerships with the end goal of aligning the organization to a singular strategic vision.
Expected to lead the Business Information Architecture team in the development of a formal Business Architecture discipline / practice
Aligns the enterprise data reference architecture to line of business strategy
Establishes and owns current and future state line of business data roadmap aligned to the business strategy and objectives
Provides input/participation in op-planning discussions at line of business level
Governs projects to ensure data assets are built to align with line of business and corporate/enterprise strategic data goals
Consults with business partners/IT teams to provide expertise around data, business process, technology and usage of information
Promotes a culture of ownership to transform data into a strategic asset
Mentor business users to help them understand data concepts, business processes, and data usage
Drives innovation by facilitating alignment of the art of the possible to pragmatic business needs
A minimum five years of successful experience in business architecture, analytics, business intelligence, data management or similar technical role required.
Previous experience in management and/or strategy consulting strongly preferred; experience in the Insurance industry; Knowledge of Commercial Lines, Personal Lines or Group Benefits is strongly preferred; some combination of both of these is required.
Entrepreneurial spirit - self-motivated, strong sense of ownership/accountability, and results oriented with the ability to manage time and schedules effectively; proven ability to be a self-starter required.
Strong written and verbal communication to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical users at all levels of the organization, including senior executives; proven track record of influencing skills within a matrixed environment.
Ability to listen effectively, process information, ask appropriate questions for clarification and prioritize appropriately.
Understand leading industry data warehouse, data marts and data delivery methodologies; willingness to learn new technologies/methodologies and apply them.
Highly developed organizational skills to function effectively while still maintaining attention to detail and meeting established deadlines.
Professional certification in Business Architecture preferred
