Title: Business Consultant - Quality Management (Group Benefits)Location: United States-Connecticut-HartfordOther Locations: United States-Oregon-Portland, United States-Florida-Lake Mary, United States-Maine-South Portland, United States-Georgia-AlpharettaJob Number: 1800968This position provides governance and oversight validating adherence to pricing protocols, underwriting standards, documentation protocols and guidelines across Regional and National account segments. The QM Underwriting Business Consultant is expected to build relationships and collaborate with cross functional business customers, at various levels of the organization, to successfully manage, drive and inform Quality Risk Management.

Specific duties of the Business Consultant will include:

Execute quality reviews for Regional and National account segments by reconstructing large complex underwriting cases to validate adherence to compliance and regulatory standards, pricing protocols, underwriting standards, documentation protocols and guidelines.

Perform targeted audits on emerging trends, areas of concern or process changes to inform Risk Management practices and guidelines. Develops and publishes associated audit reports to leadership.

Complete root cause analysis on quality reviews by evaluating data for quality trends and opportunities from multiple sources including, but not limited to independently run reports.

Deliver meaningful feedback in a respectable manner to Underwriters and or their leaders when reporting Quality results, trends, and recommendations.

Support Strategic Reserve by underwriting cases during peak periods; collaborate effectively with business customers (Underwriting & Sales) to meet customer deadlines.

Identify learning opportunities based on quality findings: prepare and present training materials when applicable.

Lead or participate in strategic initiatives exhibiting thought leadership by providing insightful input and expertise to influence and deliver optimal business outcomes.

Function as an Underwriting Subject Matter Expert: stay current with guideline, best practice, tool and system enhancements. Competently articulate enhancements to Underwriters to ensure consistency across the organization when deviations are identified.     

Effectively coach and mentor Underwriters, provide insightful and comprehensive consultations, tailor conversations based on individual needs to instill expertise among our Underwriting organization.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

Preferably 3 years’ Group Life and Disability underwriting experience for Regional and National accounts segments

MS Office Proficient, Excel, Word & PowerPoint

Qualified candidates will have the following requirements

Strong understanding of quality evaluation processes/principles

National Account and Large Account Underwriting experience

Proven ability to act with integrity and respect (understands nature of work is confidential and will act accordingly)

Demonstrated ability to prioritize, understand work flow/work load analysis

Ability to multi task while demonstrating the ability to prioritize

Superior technical knowledge, analytical skills and attention to detail

Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
