Analyze/Underwrite and quote new and renewal business within authority levels. Assist agents/insureds with coverage and processing questions. Aid in processing of New/Renewal business including Tort Notification Process. This role is an individual and team contributor to U/W and processing of both Mortality and Poultry lines of business. The role is an individual contributor on a centralized team specializing in Equine/Bovine/Canine and Poultry coverages, and will be responsible for processing a high volume of policy issuance, renewal processes and endorsement changes. The individual must be able to verbally and electronically work with agents and customers, as well as partner with Senior UWs to increase knowledge, skills and competence in the underwriting of these two lines of business.

Responsibilities:


Underwriting /Quoting:

  • Accountable for underwriting and processing new applications and renewals within authority limits.
  • Determine coverage eligibility and pricing based upon established underwriting guidelines.
  • Answer customer/agent questions regarding coverage availability, terms, and pricing based upon established underwriting guidelines.
  • Work directly with agents to obtain required underwriting information and resolve any problems or issues.
  • Support and partner with Senior Underwriters through a variety of services that include account coordination, report ordering, data collection and information follow-up.
  • Maintain the highest level of accuracy, documentation and efficiency on all accounts.
  • Accurately e-file all related correspondence and approvals.

Operational:

  • Processing of policies, change endorsements and renewal correspondence within tort guidelines.
  • Meet or exceed quote guiding principles and quality assurance levels for department.
  • Validate agency/agent licensing using company systems or prescribed manual procedures.
  • Maintain the highest level of accuracy and efficiency on all accounts.
  • Accurately e-file all related correspondence and approval.
  • Ability to effectively gain needed skills in both Poultry & Mortality UW.

Customer Service:

  • Understand Livestock Mortality & Poultry Coverage forms and departmental processes in order to maintain excellent communication skills with customers and agents.
  • Respond to requests by internal & external customers within our service levels guidelines.
  • Effectively communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
  • Timely follow up on all requests.
  • Attention to detail on all transactions.
  • Act with appropriate urgency when responding to customer inquiries or requests

Team Engagement & Special Projects:

  • Demonstrate excellent cooperative working relationships with all business associates, including internal and external customers, peers and managers alike.
  • Willingly provide workload support and provide back-up for vacation and other absence.
  • Assist in training new members on existing and expanded work functions.
  • Manages own time and workload efficiently; balances multiple priorities to fulfill all commitments within established timeframes.
  • Offer to help teammates and proactively share valuable information
  • Special projects as assigned


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma Required, Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Insurance industry background preferred, but not required
  • General farm, livestock, equine experience helpful
  • Experience working with business customers and partners.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Ability to communicate on a professional level; strong phone and email communication skills.
  • Sales acumen and/or experience preferred, not required.
  • Good Office Automation Skills
  • Livestock/Agricultural experience preferred
