The Underwriter RA position in GRP is a dynamic underwriting position involving demonstrated technical underwriting skills especially with experience rated business and the ability to manage assigned cases and underlying reinsurance arrangements. This position involves partnership with underwriting and business contacts both internally and externally to ensure profitability of the block of business as well as strong sales and persistency results.

Proactively manages assigned book of business including a combination of smaller manually rated and large, more complex cases, advising clients on various risk and underwriting issues.

Understand pricing tool outputs and logic behind how all tools work.

Understand clients and GRP sales goals and contribute to results.

Provide consultative services to GRP clients on presale cases. Consultative services can include rationale for risk evaluation and negotiation.

Perform in depth analysis on case opportunities in order to develop Formula, Needed and Proposed pricing levels.

May perform analyses on client company’s entire Life, AD&D, STD or LTD book of business.

Proactively develops and maintains excellent working relationships with sales and internal representatives and clients.

Participate in and apply training received in order to develop and continually refine craft.

May train other underwriting staff, here and at client companies.

Participates in strategic projects within department and may lead/manage select projects for continuous improvement and process efficiency initiatives.

Works independently with final decision making authority within assigned authority levels.

May perform underwriting audits internally and at client companies.

Support initiatives of the various councils and participate in teambuilding events and activities.Qualifications:

3 years experience preferably underwriting cases 500 lives and/or Reinsurance background

Bachelor's degree preferred

Strong group life and disability product and underwriting knowledge
