Underwriter Priority Accounts, Group Reinsurance Plus:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Within company guidelines, price, appraise/evaluate risk, and underwrite cases 10-499 lives with focus on manually rated segment.

  • Analyze and review Underwriting guidelines and product offerings to determine appropriate plan designs.

  • Through Requests for Proposals (RFP) interpretation and system automation, generate proposal/plan design and quotes for cases 10-499 lives.

  • May also underwrite and price experience rated pre-sales under the guidance of a Senior or Chief Underwriter.

  • Provides consultative analysis to internal and external partners on presale and renewal cases.

  • Complete timely renewal delivery to UW Lead and/or Client prior to the renewal field notification date.

  • Scrub sold case submissions with 50-500 lives for data requirements and request missing information as needed.

  • Process Sold Case submissions in accordance with proposed plan and underwriting guidelines.

  • Deliver timely Sold Case Acceptance letters and ensure system set up of Case Management system.

  • Complete Sold Case Externally processed audits and report any consistent findings to manager

  • Works independently but seeks guidance on more complex cases/applications.

  • Adheres to required documentation standards and system set up based best practices.

  • Recognizes problems, issues and improvement possibilities. Ability to summarize information and make recommendations on initiatives to improve process efficiency or customer value.

  • May answer questions, provide/verify information, price plan changes, rates, services to client and internal customers etc.

  • Actively contributes to staff projects, councils, assists other underwriters as needed.

  • May provide technical backup at sales presentations to clients/brokers.

  • Performs training assignments as delegated.

  • If applicable, Partner with assigned client partners to meet new premium sales goal and maintain a profitable block of business.

  • No travel required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.

  • Knowledge of insurance business, organization and products.

  • Previous knowledge of underwriting preferred.

  • Solid team building and relationship skills.

  • Knowledge of Group Benefits (GB) products/benefits and language desired.

  • Proven decision making and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

  • Solid understanding of MS Word and Excel
