WHAT CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT THIS POSITION?

We seek a highly motivated software application developer to join our Digital team. This Enterprise team supports and builds applications leveraging The Hartford’s Enterprise web content management service, Oracle Web Center Sites. This position involves tasks across the entire software development life cycle – Analysis, Design, Development, Testing, Implementation and on-going customer support and relationship management in a highly- matrixed organization.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated developer with 10 years of experience who can work well individually and as a member of a multi-discipline team. Exposure to a broad range of technologies including Java application development, relational databases, Unix/Linux/Solaris operating systems, and networking technologies is required. Prior experience with a web content management platform is also required.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate aptitude of a strong technical leader
  • Oversee technical deliverables for invest and maintenance projects through the software development life cycle, including validating the completeness of estimates, quality and accuracy of technical designs, build and implementation
  • Participate in project scope identification, data architecture development and project planning in coordination with other members of the data warehouse team.
  • Analyze, enhance and maintain Oracle Web Center Site’s architecture and software.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy applications, utilizing a defined project methodology and internal standards.
  • Assign work to team members and provide guidance to development team.
  • Oversee monitoring systems and remedial processes to ensure 24/7 support.
  • Aptitude for solving complex problems.
  • Strong desire to leverage the latest digital technologies and how they support an enhanced customer experience via the use of video, social, content targeting and syndication.
  • Provide detailed cost and timeline estimates.
  • Effective communication, delegation, abstract thinking, financial aptitude, ability to work on multiple projects is a must.
  • 10 years of development experience
  • Web Content Management, Weblogic, Oracle DB, Java, JQuery, JSP, JQuery, HTML 4/5, and CSS3
  • Experience with a Web Content Management Tool (Oracle Web Center Sites/Fatwire)
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Experience with mobile development is a plus
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Delivery focused

  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude, and the ability to think strategically, while driving quality in a highly complex technology operating environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate with various constituencies.
