WHAT CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT THIS POSITION?

The primary role of the Information Architect is to connect business stakeholders to the content they are looking for. The Information architect interacts directly with a variety of business stakeholders across functions in their assigned business segment to identify and understand business strategies and associated data needs and concerns. This role serves as a single point of contact for the business intelligence and data science teams within the assigned business segment and will work with closely with stakeholders to organize, prioritize, and triage all data activities to others within the larger Enterprise Data Office. The Information Architect will also develop deep technical expertise on the assigned business segments data sources and data assets and provide subject matter expertise to both business users and technical teams as needed. A significant portion of the role will be managing a cross-organizational portfolio of data-related activities. It is essential that the individual filling this role is able to identify opportunities around data management, data delivery, and data consumption in addition to helping realize those opportunities. The role will require frequent communication with staff throughout the firm, and requires the ability to listen to and acknowledge concerns and feedback, win over skeptics, and communicate effectively with people at all levels.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifies and understands various user requirements of data by researching and analyzing user needs, preferences, objectives, and working methods; studying how users consume content, including data categorization and labeling; interacting with key stakeholders.
  • Partners with data management delivery lead for the assigned business segment to develop a central inventory of all data activities.
  • Meets frequently with business stakeholders, data management delivery lead, and CIO to prioritize and manage the central inventory of data activities.
  • Provides direction and support to business analysts to enhance business requirements based on data content / environment expertise. Also inform requirements based on current architecture and other activities planned or underway.
  • Performs initial root cause analysis for data quality issues.
  • Consults with business stakeholders on data extract query optimization.
  • Identify, coordinate, and develop training on data assets and content available for all business users.
  • Creates transparency on the correct usage of each data asset.
  • Establishes communication plan for data related issues or changes to key business stakeholders.


Qualifications:

WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following: Computer Science, MIS, Economics, Statistics, Finance, or related field or comparable work experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, data management or similar technical role.
  • Previous experience working in the Insurance industry; Knowledge of Personal Lines or Group Benefits a plus.
  • Understand leading industry data warehouse and data delivery methodologies.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies/methodologies and apply them.
  • Ability to listen effectively, process information, ask appropriate questions for clarification and execute tasks accordingly.
  • Ability to work on multiple levels from resolving individual support issues to leading large strategic projects.
  • Highly developed organizational skills to function effectively while still maintaining attention to detail and meeting established deadlines.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit - self-motivated, strong sense of ownership/accountability, and results oriented with the ability to manage time and schedules effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical users at all levels of the organization.

  • Prior experience with Waterfall and SCRUM/Agile delivery methodologies.
