We are seeking a talented individual to join our GB Compliance team. The team is part of The Hartford's Law Department and is made up of cross-functional compliance professionals supporting the core compliance functions in Group Benefits. This individual will be primarily responsible for monitoring activities and as a member of a cross-functional team, will be called upon to perform various functions within GB Compliance. An ideal candidate is someone with broad legal, compliance, and business expertise.

Job Duties

  • Assist with the implementation of a comprehensive compliance monitoring program designed to ensure all DOI regulations are followed. This will include identifying, developing, implementing and executing new compliance monitoring activities Evaluates the applicability and implications of laws and regulations to The Hartford’s products and or processes; identifying options; and developing recommendations
  • Stays abreast of regulatory and business changes to assist Compliance members and managers in keeping up to date procedures, and develops anticipatory solutions to help ensure effective implementation of new standards and controls and/or compliance gaps
  • Assists with regulatory examinations and inquiries
  • Liaises with third-party advisers and regulatory authorities; and develops and executes oversight programs related to third party administrators servicing Company policies
  • Provides oversight for corrective action plans (CAPs) and when applicable, responds to identified regulatory compliance deficiencies with the purpose of mitigating regulatory risk and driving continuous compliance improvement
  • Partners with the Law Department on regulatory research and delivers clear and effective communications, including oral presentations and thoroughly researched memoranda
  • Supports strategic and tactical projects related to compliance and will work to identify, address and promote sound business practices, policies and procedures that are consistent with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Maintains effective working relationships and works across functional areas to promote consistency in approach both internally and externally to achieve compliance with insurance laws and regulations


Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience required
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the areas of Legal, Compliance, Project Management, or Governance/Risk Mitigation.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access; SharePoint is a plus)
  • Experience with technology platforms
  • Proven experience:

    • Planning and managing multi-functional projects and analysis, conducting research, and developing decision making information
    • Analyzing and creating controls to mitigate risk
    • Applying insights from broader business and industry perspective to help develop practical complaint solutions with business operations and the related legislative, regulatory and in-house company policy requirements associated with them
    • Building relationships and influencing others productively
