The main responsibility of this role is to govern pricing tools that support over $3 billion in GB premium. The role affords the Lead visibility into all GB product offerings, including having a pulse on upcoming advancements in actuarial science and the ever-changing market dynamics on new client opportunities. The Lead would work with a cross-functional team to maximize the key market variables: Speed-to-Market / Pricing Accuracy / Ease of Use. With a goal of provide high-functioning tools to underwriters, the Lead will drive priorities and execution of tool strategies.
Specifically, the individual in this role will:
Lead the prioritization, maintenance and enhancement of all Life, Disability, Voluntary, and A&H Actuarial formula pricing tools.
Provide leadership to positively influence not only this functional area but Commercial markets/Group benefits organization as a whole.
Work with the appropriate teams, i.e., Actuarial Service team and Underwriting Strategy team, to ensure that changes have the appropriate scope, requirements, and testing plans(s); oversee testing and sign off on changes.
Coordinate the rollout of scheduled tool changes that coincide with regular pricing activities such as National Accounts targets, as well as other updates as needed.
In coordination with UW, regularly monitor tool performance and diagnose/remediate problems in a timely fashion, appropriately communicating to relevant area(s).
Work with the Model Validation team to identify tools for review and create project plans to execute on those tool reviews. Address any defects or items of concern realized from the review.
Work with Actuarial Assumptions team to leverage National Accounts/Regional Accounts database information and develop experience analysis from the database.
Develop management reporting that tracks key trends identified through the National Accounts/Regional Accounts database.
Experience & Skills:
ASA/FSA designation preferred. 3-5 years of experience in an actuarial or related function.
Experience assessing risk and establishing business appropriate thresholds.
Capable relationship builder. Maintains relationships with UW and support departments, effectively translates deep knowledge of actuarial business needs to identify key pain points or opportunities for improvement related to profitability and efficiency.
Proficiency leveraging business applications such as Microsoft (Excel, VBA, Access, etc.).
Proven experience managing projects, influencing and driving results both actuarial and non actuarial audiences.
Effective written and verbal communication and general business management skills are imperative.
Knowledge of Group pricing and experience rating techniques preferred.
