WHAT CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT THIS POSITION?

Reporting to the Director of Data Strategy this person will play a key role in helping facilitate the creation of Line of Business data strategies, and should possess a strategic mindset with exceptional technical aptitude.

This person will have financial services domain expertise and be able to quickly grasp key business processes, drivers, pain points and aspirations of business users. Should have deep experience in data management and architecture, and be able to stay abreast of the latest developments in data processing technology.

This person will possess excellent business partner facing skills including communication, empathy, and assertiveness.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identify and solicit requirements, new business opportunities or pain points from the business and create strategic use cases that map to strategic business objectives

  • Identify KPIs and anticipated ROI for the assessment and adoption of new technology

  • Become fully conversant with the future state architecture and the current state landscape

  • Jointly own strategic roadmaps and keep them in sync with business strategy refreshes

  • Participate in key data related initiatives and help ensure their fit to broader strategy

  • Serve as a business architect and develop a good understanding of critical business processes and their data dependencies

  • Perform market scans and identify important trends and technologies that are worthy candidates for performing feasibility exercises including pilots

Qualifications:

WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS?

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience; undergraduate degree or equivalent experience

  • Previous experience working in financial services

  • Experience with Hadoop including modeling and coding

  • Experience with NoSQL and emerging data processing technologies OR experience with cloud based data storage and processing technologies

  • Ability to work with a diverse team of stakeholders to prioritize and manage many simultaneous deliverables

  • Robust Data Architecture skills - sets direction for and possesses a deep understanding of data architecture and strategies which integrate with industry trends

  • Enterprise Data Modeling expertise

  • Track record of team leadership, talent acquisition, and development.

  • Effective writing and presentation skills: clearly communicates complex technical and business concepts to leaders and key stakeholders in both technical and non-technical roles

  • Ability to independently learn new technologies and data related approaches

  • Ability to think strategically, assessing business goals and translating them into technical roadmaps

Preferred but not required Qualifications:

  • Data Management expertise developing, executing and supervising plans, policies, programs, and practices

  • Experience in the Development of Data Strategy and associated policies

  • Portfolio delivery experience: engages in the full lifecycle experience, from planning to delivery and management of the solution lifecycle to produce solution designs that are viable and can be successfully constructed, implemented, operated and managed

  • This is not an operational role. Should have a strategic outlook and bring thought leadership to every task
